Private and/or group retreats may be planned for one or several days. Please call or write for arrangements.
The sisters ask visitors to respect the atmosphere of this holy place: no shorts, revealing dresses or tops; and please refrain from smoking.
Dormition of the Mother of God Monastery, founded in 1987, is located on 49 acres of woodlands with a cemetery for the use of all Orthodox Christians. This is a holy place in which to nurture the spirit of God within us. A complete liturgical cycle of services (Vespers, Vigils, Matins, Divine Liturgy, Akathists, and Compline) are held every week throughout the year in English and Romanian. All visitors and guests are invited to attend services and/or send lists of names for intercessions. There are ten sisters in residence, and two priests.
The monastery publishes a journal called The Burning Bush. HDM Press is the monastery publishing house. Largely supported by donations, the sisters also sew vestments and alter covers, paint icons, and make beaded eggs and traditional Orthodox prayer ropes. The sisters are available to speak at parishes, conferences, and retreats. A building expansion is in progress to accommodate the needs of the increasing number of visitors.
